Description
The Curry Tree (also called Kadipatta) is a small tropical to sub-tropical tree or shrub noted for its sweet & pungent aromatic leaves, Fragrant white flowers are followed by blue-black drupes; seeds are poisonous to eat.
The leaves of the curry tree are called curry leaves or sweet neem leaves. a must add herb in curry recipes prepared in South Asia; it s a good choice for gardeners who love to grow exotic plants.
Usually, curry trees grow to 4-6 metres tall, and their trunk grows to 40 centimetres in diameter. This is a relatively low maintenance tree, and should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season’s flowers. It is a good choice for attracting birds to your yard
Environment
Curry tree plant loves the warm, humid surroundings and loves subtropical and tropical heat. It needs full sun and moderate watering to thrive. Pinch off its white flowers in the first two years to appreciate healthy growth. Once settled, it start to grow up quickly.
Use nitrogen rich fertilizer in a month or two to boost the growth (don t fertilize in dormant stage of the plant, which occurs in the winter)
Pick fresh leaves when you need it, harvesting encourages new growth in curry plant.
